@Ken ;) maybe..

I would like to look at the carbon footprint of this crap from paperwork ( initial idea, meetings etc), energy used ( emails, folks traveling to and from work/ meetings) creating the tubes ( time/paperwork/ energy etc), disposing of tubes, enforcement, and on and on.

I would never visit a “wilderness” managed like that, so don’t worry. I have an entirely different awareness and relationship to nature and my place in it.

Only heard of packing out poo on river/raft trips or canyon trips, both places where appropriate burial of the materials cannot be done.

“That’s about it for poo tubes, shall we move on to piss?”

The more fortunate among us are born with Pee Tubes.  ;0)

In the Olympics, they tell you to pee on the rocks rather than soil because when the mountain goats lick it up, they won’t disrupt plants in the soil

How very … amusing.
Of course the little hard hooves of the goats have zero effect on the vegetation, and they don’t pee or poo anywhere do they?

If you have ever see the devastation that a herd of goats can inflict on the enviroment, you might stop worrying about your once-a-year passage.

Cheers

maybe they dig up the (peed) soil with their hooves, rather than just walking around

it is alpine so difficult for plants to grow even without goats

“when the mountain goats lick it up”

My boss at the Wilderness Supply had a trouble maker on a trip to Wyoming who organized the clients to pee around the leader’s tent.  Then the mountain goats would come around at night be lick up the salty dirt.  The goats would freak out when caught standing on dirt and would quickly hop onto a little rock, a few feet away.  As soon as all four hooves were on rock, they felt safe.

I am not sure whether that says more about the goats’ IQ or the clients’ IQ.

Cheers
