This is probably a Hail Mary but here goes…

Canada closed the back door on buying permethrin spray for residential clothing use, so I’m thinking of making a run to the US to buy a few years worth.

Does anyone Stateside make it in ~ gallon jugs (0.35%-0.5%) specifically for clothing use?  Ben’s, Sawyer and Coleman don’t, 24oz is the biggest.

Not interested in products for farm or broad area application as there’s no way to know what other additives are in the cocktail and some add critter attracting scents.

As a fall back I could buy a mittful of 24oz bottles but prefer a large volume format if it exists as it’s less conspicuous to haul back with some groceries.

Does it expire after a while?

Does Canada inspect vehicles entering?

The Green Armor Permethrin spray comes in 32 oz (i.e. U.S. fluid ounce) spray bottles. It’s currently USD15.99 from Amazon. Don’t know if it’s available at any walk-in retailers near the borderline.

Supposed to last 10yrs.  Maybe by that time there will be a Lyme vaccine

At their discretion.  I used to cross every few weeks for years hitting up concerts and nightclubs on the other side and have seen some pretty wacky stuff crossing.  Have your ID ready, tunes off, windows down for any rear seat passengers, be friendly and respectful, look them in the eye, answer promptly but succinctly, engage in friendly conversation when they reach out (I’ve had some great conversations about trails with border guards), no fibbing, and its rarely not OK (though we did have a guard pull a gun on us once on the US side when the driver crept up a bit too close to the truck in front, talk about culture shock).

Adrian, thanks, that might be an easy option if we have US friends visit.  I wouldn’t ask them to drive to an REI for me but ordering from Amazon’s low effort.

From a slap on the wrist to defending yourself in court. Perhaps a reason to visit friends more often.
