My headlamp. purchased in 2016, has finally died. So, I need a new one, and I am looking for suggestions.

Here is what I’d like to find:

1) Uses a rechargeable battery that can be charged outside of the headlamp, and that the headlamp can also be used with 3 AAA batteries.

2) With head band (NOT strings or bungee cords)

3) With low lumen flood setting, and hi-lumen spot high setting.

4) Simple to operate , I don’t need other color temperatures or colors, and I don’t want to need to have the instructions with me to figure out how to use it!

5) And, above all, must be reliable and somewhat weather proof. No plastic parts that snap off after one years use (Black Diamond spot as one bad example).

Suggestions are welcome, thanks!

P.

I have 2 rechargeable headlamps.

1.)Black Diamond-> the flat Li ion battery MUST be removed and placed in a flat plastic holder. The USB- C plug then goes into the holder (NOT the battery) as there is no USB – C port in the battery.

2.) PETZL-> The battery can be removed and charged OR charged in the headlamp. That’s because the USB- C  port is IN the battery itself, no charging “holder” needed. I much prefer this kind of battery with its own C port than the fussy Black Diamond “battery holder” system. And I’ve never been a Petzl fan but I like this headlamp and its recharge system. Plut this is THE brightest headlamp I’ve ever owned at around 500 lumens on full “retina burn”.

Hi Eric, which Petzl headlamp model are you describing?

And Ryan, thanks for suggestions. I will look those two up/

Paul, I think my PETZL headlamp is the Core model. It’s the one that permits the head to rotate 365 degrees within the holder bracket. It’s black with gray “frame” and gray switch button.
