I’m looking at buying a dcf duomid.  Any thoughts on getting a dcf inner vs a silnylon? I’m thinking maybe I would want more puncture resistance on an inner? Maybe a polypropylene groundswell would do better with dcf vs silnylon only.  Input is appreciated.

I hate how slippery silnylon floors are. My Duo’s Solo inner DCF floor is plenty durable. I don’t bother with an additional ground cloth. Get the DCF.

I have a Superlight Bivy with a 30d floor and that always seemed thin to me. I believe MLD now uses a 20d on the floor. Ron knows way more about materials than I do but I would go DCF.

I recently picked up a bivy from Yama Mountain Gear and went DCF. I used to have a ZPacks Duomid and once ended up with a couple inches of water flowing under me due to an absolute deluge. I stayed totally dry.

My $.02 is DCF. I don’t get out enough nights/year to wear the floor out quickly and DCF is easy to patch unless it is just totally failing across a large area.

I’ve never thought DCF was a good material for shelter floors but I also understand the sentiment about slippery silnylon.

Silpoly makes for a good tent floor.

Christopher, check out this post, in which Xavier, the owner of tent company Tipik, shares some results from his puncture testing:

Sil/sil coatings are great for tear strength but pretty awful at preventing puctures. I was surprised to see DCF showing such impressive puncture resistance in his test.

I think DCF is the clear winner versus sil/sil unless packed size and cost are big considerations for you.

I did note that MLD’s weights are bit wonky – grams and ounces don’t actually line up. Might be worth inquiring for precise weights.
