Michigan lower Peninsula 24hour meetups

Not sure where way up north is, I’m in Spring Lake and might be interested if timing etc works out.

A lot of the usual attended do not frequent Bpl anymore.

Oh well. The meets were good while they lasted.

If anyone is up for anything this week/weekend let me know. Im completely open.  Would prefer something more than an overnighter but will do what ever.

Was in the gaylord area this past week and lots of fall colors already.  UP should be looking good…

Winter camping anyone?

Must of missed your last post Andy.

I do have notifications setup on this thread as was having issues before.

Definitely time for some winter camping, not very fit at the moment so would have to be low mileage.

Mileage doesn’t matter to me.  Just looking to get out.

I picked up a 8 man tipi with stove so hot tenting is an option if theres snow and I can use a sled.

I hear you on looking to get out.

That Tipi could make a great party tent.

There are a lot of active meet up groups in MI.  The Grand Rapids Meetup group has a camping trip and a backpacking trip scheduled for this weekend, a Nordhouse Dunes backpacking trip in Jan. and usually a winter camping trip in Jan as well.  There are other active groups as well, including some in the metro Detroit and Ann Arbor areas as well.  There are also cross country ski meet ups.

SOLAR is also very active and has very good classes.

Plenty of ways to get out with others.

Many of the groups are Meetup groups.  Here is a link to the Grand Rapids group, for example:

You can search Meetup for other groups, but the Grand Rapids group seems to do the most winter camping and backpacking.  There is also the Michigan Adventurers club (Meetup) Adventure Quest (Meetup), Michigan Backpacking Meetup, and a newer group which tends to have a climbing focus but also does backpacking trips , the SE Michigan Outdoor Adventures club.

I don’t know too much about these groups other than the Grand Rapids group, which is the group I hike and camp with the most.

It’s more so day stuff I am doing at the moment as tied up most weekends with home projects.

No packraft, and I haven’t been in a hiking mood lately, but would love to get out for an overnight on the bike if anyone is interested.

Cool weather not to far away.  If anyone wants to a couple days in let me know.

I will be looking to get out in November, next 6 weeks I am booked solid.

Im always looking to get out.  Got a trip on the AT first week in Nov.  but ready for the cooler weather.  Let me know.
