Finding that most zippered mens shirts for warm weather are long sleeve. Any reason why?

    ditto.  Sun Protection.

I find a short sleeve crew neck t-shirt and a nylon long sleeve bug/sun shirt to be a better combo, but if you want a zipper…

If you don’t need the sun protection, it’s warm and there are no bugs, then a short sleeve shirt is great.  A long sleeve, button down, tight-weave shirt has advantages for most other 3 season conditions for sun protection, bug protection, protection from overgrown vegetation on trails and for protection when hiking off-trail. A nicely patterned button down shirt also looks nice in photos and is quite presentable in town if fashion is a concern of yours.

Try looking for bike shirts. You’ll find more short sleeve zippered options

My go-to shirt for lots of stuff is a woven nylon shirt much like a men’s dress shirt but with bigger pockets, Sportif brand:

Wind, sun, bugs, bush-whacking, some warmth, dries quick.  The only downside I’ve found is while using a 5-diameter or 60-foot long gill net (we’re allowed to do that up here), the buttons can snag the netting mesh.  So a zippered version would be better for that activity.
