Can anyone recommend meal plans for sensitive stomachs? Mainly looking for suggestions for freeze dried dinner brands that don’t contain preservatives, MSG or gluten. Also, suggestions for breakfast and lunches would be appreciated. I’m using Bobo Bars for snacks, they work out well since they are gluten-free and non-GMO.

Take a look at the Huel Hot and Savory meal packs. No MSG or preservatives, and most of them are gluten free.
Gluten free granola and Nido instant full cream milk powder for breakfast. Very calorie dense, very tasty and Nido is used for infants so should be easy on the stomach. No heating and Nido mixes much better than powdered milk while being more calorie dense so lighter in your pack. I carry it up to a 10 days, no spoilage issues
Most mid eastern grocers carry it out here and it’s not too expensive
Add different dried fruits different days to vary it up.
What do you eat at home and why can’t you eat that on the trail?
“What do you eat at home and why can’t you eat that on the trail?” – not shelf-safe or calorie dense enough. Tried some of Skurka’s recipes and found most of them contain dehydrated beans or other ingredients that don’t agree. Looking for packaged meals to add some variety, but are easy to digest. All this is on me, probably not a typical issue for many.
So, you haven’t or can’t dehydrate your meals?  Just curious.
No skills, or too lazy. I’ll check out the details to see if I’m able.
Dehydrating my own meals seems like a lot of work to me also. Instant mashed potatoes won’t have gluten and you can probably find a brand that is GMO-free and whatever else you need. Then add stuff. My normal breakfast, home and backpacking, is oatmeal. I’ve heard mixed things about whether or not that has gluten.
So: What do you actually eat at home? See, that’s how you match to commercial meals.
Beans are notoriously hard on the gut dehydrated. As are carrots, green beans, and similar. Freeze-dried is far easier for not having a grinding stomach/tooting all night long. So is proper rehydrating and staying hydrated yourself, plus enough fat in your diet. Seeds are often hard on the stomach as well – and if you can’t tolerate dairy at home, don’t eat on trail, it can bind you up bad.
Check out Adventure Well meals. Â They are low carb and offer gluten free options. Sodium is much less than standard dehydrated meals. I really enjoy them. I too have a sensitive stomach and have had no reactions to any of them.
