Danny Milks of Massdrop has his posts here going to the moderator queue. He’s still waiting to find out why.

Just my $.02 but I’m guessing everyone interested in massdrop is already subscribing to their newsletter and reposting every drop here with a referrer link seems really spammy,

Do you have any involvement with Massdrop? If so you MUST fully disclose it in every posting about Massdrop. If not, it would be a good idea to say so as well.

My comment about saying you have ‘no connection’ remains a valid one in general in cases like these. It saves trouble.

I find Massdrop extremely irritating. I cannot see anything on their web site unless I create an account and log in. I decline to play that game, and that approach makes me a little unhappy about allowing ads for them on BPL.

EDIT: A day later I had no trouble seeing the stove in question, IF I went straight to it rather than go through the Home page. The price was hidden unless I logged in – that is understandable. I will stand by my comment that the log-in requirement at the Home page is silly. Just not showing prices should be enough.

If people sign up and buy stuff with referral links you can get free stuff from MassDrop.

Personally I think it’s fine to post a referral link if it’s very specific to BPL and a special deal, e.g. When EE and MassDrop release a specific quilt.

It’s really unfortunate.  Whoever shot the photos of the stove was, well, pretty clueless.  Not that a stove of this type would hold any appeal to those here on BPL, but the shoddy set up in the photos on Mass Drop make the stove look like junk.  The pot supports aren’t fully extended, and they didn’t pull the “draw cord” tight.  Neither did they secure the draw cord to the cleat.  The windscreen is floppy and open.  Had they fully extended the pot supports, the ends of the wind screen would have been held in place which would have somewhat compensated for the draw cord screw up,

Take a look at the video on Mass Drop.  That’s how it’s supposed to look.  Notice how solid it is when the presenter demonstrates it toward the end of the video.  I am baffled why Snow Peak would build this stove; I don’t think it will be popular in the US market, but the Snow Peak engineers did do their job.  This stove isn’t the floppy junk shown in the Mass Drop photos.
