Thanks for this excellent report. I head from the Pacific Northwest to the Southwest about once a year and have added Craters of the Moon NM as a camping stop and day hike location. Your report inspires me to backpack at CRMO next time I am here. It’s a gem of the place, worth getting off the interstate to visit and explore.
