For those that own a Sidewinder Tri-Ti with the Kojin stove, and use it with a 1.3L pot cooking for two (so, ~1L boils), how well has it worked? I’ve seen some conflicting information on how well the Kojin works past 2 cups or so, with some posts saying it extinguishes before it has a chance to come to a boil, and others having a couple minutes of boil time to spare.

The Kojin hasn’t worked well for boiling water for my spouse and me. Â I often had to refill it and finish up the boil.
We switched to the Starlyte XL3 burner with large opening and have been a lot happier with the Ti-Tri and our 1.3 liter Evernew pot. Â The Starlyte stove boils water a bit more slowly, but also uses less fuel. Â We do have to use the two titanium stakes to lift the pot up a bit though, since the Starlyte stove is taller.
I did just check the Woodgaz-stove website, and the XL3 large opening burners seem to be out of stock at the moment.
Good to know! Yeah– I was looking into the XL3 since it sounded perfect (well, almost.. just the need for the titanium stakes). I wasn’t sure if they had been discontinued, since they no longer appear on their site products list. I’ll reach out and see what they say. Otherwise.. maybe a a lighter gas stove is more appropriate.
We’ve used a 0.9l Evernew and sidewinder for 2 people for years. Previously I used a Starlyte and the last few years, the Kojin. I often boil 3 or so cups of water in it. Just fill the Stove with enough fuel. We use denatured alcohol (96% ethanol).
I also use comparable homemade burners made with ceramic wool in a similar size (30ml) cosmetic container to that used in the Kojin.
If I was using a larger pot, and wanting to regularly boil more water, I might try a larger burner made from a 50 ml container.
I have used the kojin stove with my 600 ml. Ti-Tri Sidewinder without any issues at all. 600 ml = approximately 2.5 cups water. In fact, its the only alcohol stove i use now ( when i do use alcohol). I have used it in winter, very cold conditions and it has worked well also.
Fun, perhaps relevant to this thread, fact “Kojin” means “Personal”, as in one person, in Japanese.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>FYI, the Bobcat Cooking System was designed around the Evernew 1.3 liter pot. For our design center, we designed the stove to hold enough fuel to boil 4 cups of ice cold water: it has a capacity of just under 60 ml of fuel.  The stove is also compatible with the Sidewinder IF you raise the stove by 1/2”.  Just a heads up.</p>
Thank Jon. I may reach out separately to ask you some follow-up questions on your system. Perfect size!
If you really like the Kojin, take two. 34 grams total, 6-8 grams more than the options mentioned so far. When one burns out, the next is ready to swap in. Cook as long as you want with a little extra fussing. “Tuned to work in Caldera or Ti-Tri Cones.”
