That combo can more than compensate for a lot of discomfort and other adversity. I have no doubt that was the case here. In spades.

Come on over to chaff Brendan! We rarely, if ever, talk gear over there, just muse about, well, about most anything that’s not very backpacking related. Agree with Craig, glad to see you around again.
Looked like a great trip with some good adversity. What is that Doug is carrying on his back? I hope it was filled with helium balloons.

Doug’s large pack was in fact filled with smoked meats, fine scotch, and Spanish doubloons (he prefers them to a mattress). Â And he kept up with us just fine.
Well that makes sense, I suspect that you all kept up with him hoping he would share!
