Seems an endless quest for an actually useful bit of rain gear. It’s the one gear item I hate the most, and have never been satisfied with, not any brand or style. I know there are many threads on BPL about rain jackets. I will add one more only to say that the one I just purchased from Lightheart Gear is not at all in any way waterproof. I wore it in light rain in cool temps on a non-strenuous walk, and was absolutely drenched in no time. I wondered if it was perspiration, but i had the pit zips wide open and it was chilly out, not really working up a lot of heat. Another piece of expensive junk. And it wasn’t even the color as shown on the website.
So… back to square one. I was happy with my Marmot Precip til it delaminated so maybe I’ll go with another one of those for a year or two and consider it disposable. I might try a Zpacks since i have their Vertice rain pants and they are great, but they seem quite fragile. The pack straps might do a number on a jacket. Arcteryx for $600?!!! lol I actually bought a Packa but haven’t put it to the test. I still wonder if I’d trip over my feet in the thing, on a steep and rocky trail; it seems ungainly if you have to do any scrambling.
Is this an endless quest?
