Why not just make an inflator out of a regular kitchen trash bag and a short piece of light thin hose or the inflator hose that came with one of your pads? Holds about 4-6 lungs full. Whatever. Go ahead and puff away. Turn yourself blue.

I live in a moist humid environment. I had a Stephenson warmlite  downmat pad from @ 1976 lose the integrity of the waterproof/airproof urethane  coating  evidently due to mold attacking the adhesives. Who knows for sure?

And I’ve got some thermarests from maybe even the Nixon Admin there David  ;)  I think they all still work. Maybe the answer to delamination is to stick with thermarest.

Meantime it’s yes sir yes sir 3 bags full (or maybe 4)  to inflate an xtherm with my sub one ounce kitchen trash bag inflator. Why in the world would I try to blow it up by mouth?

David T., I HAD a brass valved 3/4 length Thermarest in 1980. I lived in a tent while I was a professional trail builder building (from scratch) the 9 mile Snow Creek section of the PCT. That mattress was a lifesaver after a brutal day of trail building.

The valve finally went tits up about 5 years later. Thermarest said “send it to us” so I did thinking they’d replace the valve. Instead they sent me a new mattress with a plastic valve. I STILL have that mattress – and 4 others of various design.

An inflator made out of Membrane Silpoly or even regular silnylon wouldn’t weigh much more than a trash bag one, but it would be world’s more durable and tough long term.

Could also double as a pack liner to help keep stuff dry. Put the nozzle part down, and folded over–it will work well enough.
