Hum … Aluminium pot … I wonder if those ‘grooves’ are simply a witness mark from the die used to shape the pot? Essentially zero depth. Could make sense.

Cheers

Dan – do those bowls have genuine ridges at the bottom? Sure looks like it.

Cheers

I have had nothing but good experience through ali express.  some things take a while to get here but the service is great.  Several times things have not fit properly and we have full refunds, it has been great.

Actually when ordering a Caldera Cone from Traildesigns you can specify which stove you want, the 10-12 or the Kojin. I use the 10-12 and cone setup with an Evernew 900 pot when boiling for 2 people. The Kojin I use for solo trips with the cone and Evernew Pasta Pot small. Rand has been awesome to work with when I decided to change the pot setup after I had already ordered. That is a great advantage of working with a small shop that can easily accommodate order changes.

As for patenting windscreens/cones, the old ZenStoves website has a lengthy article on the development history of windscreens/cones: http://zenstoves.net/PotStands.htm

All this is really sad. At least I feel so. But I think it is irrational me.

I got to know folks at those cottage companies. I talked to them personally. I really really value their inventions and I’m happy to pay for them.

Tim at EE got me into quilts. I still use my first quilt and it’s live and kicking like a beast. Amazing piece of gear. Now I see that quilts are made by Chinese manufacturers. Also available from aliexpress. As far as I can afford quality products of the companies I had a pleasure to purchase from, I will never buy these items from AE. Same goes for TD – I have 2 Sidewinders which are heavily used. I think I’m the first who had their cone in Israel.

But if I was a newcomer into all this stuff, without those relations developed with the actual inventors… God knows if I would order from AE if that was much cheaper.

Fear not, the concentric ringed pots are available in Heaven :-)

Can’t stop it :-)

Ah, but Dan, this has no patent.

In that case, we can gear up to make them by the thousands/millions

I’ll be making some kits up that look similar to yours. Thanks for the ideas :dblthumb:

Ah but Dan, it does have copyright.

Patents, copyrights………they don’t matter ……..Thanks for the ideas :dblthumb:

stent: a tubular support placed temporarily inside a blood vessel, canal, or duct to aid healing or relieve an obstruction.

I’m going to hazard a guess that in this case, it is a Ti stake or peg, originally used here horizontally to support the pot; but discontinued with redesign of the cone. In other words, now abstent.
