How to find Gear reviews on this site?

Hi Holger.

I don’t think we have a ton of hard shell jacket reviews on BPL. Our reviews tend to cover thinner rain shells and wind shirts.

I am on mobile at the moment but I got to gear reviews by hitting the three lines in the navigation bar at the top then hit Gear then Gear Types then Clothing Systems. Then scroll down and you can filter using keywords and content type.

Hi Matthew – Makes sense about the Hard Shell jackets.  But I have this problems with other gear items.  I know this site might be different but what I’m looking for is something like “Switchback Travel” or “OutDoorGearLabs” (what John suggests).   A list of items reviewed and compared to other items.  Is that possible?

No, BPL doesn’t have a comprehensive comparison review for each category of gear. We don’t do comparisons like Outdoor Gear Lab, for example.

I usually come to the forums with questions about a specific piece of gear. I find that I can describe the environmental conditions that I’m planning on using the gear in and get very up-to-date recommendations.

Then there are the feature articles like Ryan’s recent Publisher’s Gear Guide or the 2021 Staff Picks. I suppose the Rain Mitt feature was another recent one that trends towards what OGL does.
