I can’t figure out how to insert a photo into a post.

I am using Flickr. Used to just right click on the image to get the url. Now they have made it “better.”

I have tried inserting both the embed code and the bbcode. No joy.

What am I doing wrong?

OK. Thanks.

I’m really not computer savvy, though. I’ve tried the medium size 600×800, which I believe has worked before. I tried the 375×500, too. No luck.

Here’s what I’m doing:

1) Copy the embed code from Flickr.

2) Click “Insert Image” on BPL.

3) Paste code into box.

So what’s wrong?

Alright fellas.  I’m lost here.  I have pasted the url into the body of three seperate posts, all of which vanished.

Then I did a test post without the url and it was successful. I then edited that post to include the url and it vanished as soon as I hit Submit.

I think flicker is your problem to posting the actual photo here. In the above link I just copied the url and used the insert link tool above. Try posting a photo to your desktop and uploading it from there. I resize mine during the export function, but I am using a mac.

Notice I said insert link, not image. Flicker works so hard at preventing unauthorized use of you photos that they limit your sharing to selected social sites, instagram, Facebook, etc.

Anyone please correct me if I am wrong but I think to post here the image needs to be on your own device.

I only offer moral support since I have the same or similar problem inserting links. Text appears to post just fine while links just go “poof” and completely disappear. It is as if anything that starts with “HTTP” is filtered out of the post.

I’m not exactly a rookie having first worked with IBM 360-50 computers with papertape readers in 1968 and a whole string of other computers since then. I am not adept at HTML; maybe therein lies the problem?

You are not alone, Nick.

Thank you, sir. I have to go out for a while but I will try that when I get home.

The best way is to insert the photo using a file on your computer or mobile device, not linking to a URL. Years ago, WebShots was the biggest online repository of online photos. They changed their business model and millions of links were lost. Nothing says that the big online photo cloud sites won’t go down a similar path.

Agree with Nick…

Download the photo to your desktop and insert from there using the ‘Choose File’ button in the Insert Image dialog. Works every time and no risk of losing the image due to an image hosting web site changing/failing/disappearing.

Got it!  Thanks fellas!  Uploading from the desktop is where it’s at.
