Is there such a thing as a hammock big enough for a family of four?
There are SO many places nearby where we live that would make for a great overnighter for our family. The issue with almost the spots that we find the prettiest is that they are in the forest on an decline towards the sea. I suppose that’s the case when you prefer dry sites with beautiful views. So there are very few spots we like where we could pitch an average tent – and hardly any big enough to fit our huge pyramid.
During today’s hike we started discussing hammocks. We could set up those almost everywhere and most certainly get to spend more time outdoors. Both kids and parents agreed that that would be nice.
The thing is that our children are still very young, 3 and 5 years, and they would not be happy about sleeping in their own hammock the whole night, especially not in a place that was not familiar to them. So we would need to find a hammock big enough to fit all of us, at least for a few more years.
I found only one company that had offerings in line with our ideas, called Tentsile, but their products where terribly heavy. The beast of burden in the family, that’s me, says neigh to additional loads of +10 kg. Does anyone know of similar products out there? Or are there cleverer ways to achieve what we want?
In short, my question is:
- Is there a way to sleep two adults and two small kids in the same hammock without breaking my back?
