I’ve been playing with TRIPS for about an hour and am impressed–but also a little frustrated. I can’t figure out what some acronyms mean, such as MDR. Perplexity tells me this one likely means Maximum Difficulty Rating, but even Perplexity admits it isn’t sure. Please consider adding a glossary of terms.

Karl – we have contextual definitions already rolled into the next update – I’ll see see if we can separate it and get it patched on this version sooner, and post back here with an update.
MDR = metabolic difficulty ratio. It defines the metabolic cost (e.g., kcal/mile) of a route or segment of a route compared to the cost of flat terrain without a backpack (or other cost modifiers, such as fatigue or altitude).
Thanks for the nearly instant reply, which not only answers my question but proves that Perplexity isn’t a know-it-all.
Hi Karl –
1
Added a new glossary article in the TRIPS Help Center: TRIPS glossary: common terms and acronyms.
2
Added a direct link to that glossary from the in-app Quick Start modal.
3
Added inline hover explanations for MDR and MEM in the route/day summary card “pills” that show up in the upper right corner of the card.
