I called Garmin this morning to inquire on what it would cost me to repair my etrex 20. While using it the other day to track mileage on a day hike the back button failed and with it the thin rubber skin that weather proofs the switch. Bummer. I was expecting the repair cost to be above the actual value of the unit (purchased 2011) but after describing the failure to the rep he said with no hesitation that he would be glad to exchange my unit for a replacement even though it was well out of warranty. He then offered me free overnight shipping. I opted for their refundable deposit option that allows me to ship in my unit after I receive the replacement. Upon receipt the deposit is refunded. How’s that for excellence in customer service.
