I heard through a customer that Norm Reeves (Stormin Stove) recently passed away.  I did find this on the web (from Aug 2020)

We are very sad to have to let you all know that Norman Reeves – much better known as Stormin’ Norman has died – he had been ill for some time. Norman has a long history with the Challenge and completed it many times. He was a real character as everyone who knew him will testify and we shall miss him. We send our condolences to his family and especially to his wife, Myra.

Sad news – I was in touch with him quite recently.

He was a character for sure, but he was reliable to deal with and the system I bought from him is innovative and a terrific performer.

He’ll be missed by many.

I hope someone takes over the business, because he poured his heart into the products and they deserve to live on.

He had some really interesting products and seemed to be constantly pushing the envelope as it were; looking for that better system. Like Geoff I hope someone can step up and carry on.

Jon thanks for sharing this. I really enjoy all the info you ‘stove guys’ bring to BPL!

BTW what is ‘the challenge

Thanks William. I found a bunch of info about it over on Section Hiker including Werner’s planned 2020 route. I’d really like to get back to Scotland.

I am sorry to hear about this. Norman contacted me a few years ago to have me do some beta testing for one of his alcohol stoves. He was quite cordial and generous, as he sent me the free stove from England at no small cost. The stove performed a bit better than other commercial alcohol stoves I have tried (but not a whole lot better than one of my own design). I liked his creativity, and also the zeal with which he pursued his obvious passion. He seemed like a fine man.

WOW!!! I bought his 550ml pot, lid, handle with some bands back in early April 2020, my last email to him and he responded was 25 Apr 2020, i responded back with one more question and never got an answer and to know 4 months later he passed……. that says alot about him and his care of his business.

i loved his system and would love to see it come back and different variations of it, like a wider base….
