Has anyone here tried the vest harness version of the Kumo? My older pre-vest kumo remains a favorite pack because of how well it rides on my back because of its wide/shallow cross section. I bet the vest version rides really well.

Not tried it. It looked interesting to me before I noticed the solution for water access. I like soft water flasks with a bit of tubing (held down by a small strap) which is not possible to use on the Fast Kumo without the tubes flapping. On the Raidlight 30litre pack this is not a problem and I can fit two 650ml soft flasks with tubing in the front pocket. Also the Raidlight is about half the weight of the Kumo. I only have three things I would change on the Raidlight, which is
-I would like it to be 5litres larger (though an external extra pack on the straps does help with 4 litres)
-i’d like it to be waterproof
-it will not hold up to abuse – so a ultra fabric version would be interesting
other than than it checks all the boxes and it carries well when running.
Nice to see Atom Packs released their fastpack.
Are you considering one Matthew? No seam taping options or reviews yet so will probably pass on this one.
No not really. I have three backpacks I love that cover me from dayhiling to multi-day backpacking with a bear can. I’ve always been curious about using a vest style pack for shorter overnight trips but I cannot justify the purchase to myself without ditching at least one of these packs and I like them too much.
If I decided to try a fast pack, it would either be the Fast Kumo or this Atom Pack.
Just out of curiosity; which packs do you have? I’m down to eight…
MLD Hell, GG Kumo, Atom Packs Pulse (I forgot what it used to be called when I got it).
Thank you for sharing.
