Gonna post a question here:
First off, Rex Sanders’ discussion on gear testing philosophy was great and brought a lot to the table.
- I feel that he did not provide specific examples of products/brands that exemplify the issues he discussed. Not so much to roll a bus over anyone, but to have firm examples. We know we’re not talking about Kelty frame packs.
- He failed to emphasize on the consumer experience and how individuals can effectively evaluate gear for their specific needs while he criticized that there was a deficit in this area.
- What are emerging trends in gear testing, such as the use of technology (sensors, data analytics?) to assess gear performance? We’ve all seen Ryan with his humidity/moisture meters :P
Your segment may have benefited from a more balanced view that also acknowledges positive developments in the industry; ex: mentioning brands that are known for their rigorous testing protocols could provide a more nuanced perspective rather than solely indicating the lack thereof.
If this is the wrong place to put this, please let me know.
