Checking out the weekend holiday sales and saw this First Ascent quilt. Cool design. Seems competitive for its rating, especially considering the lifetime warranty.

Call me a Debbie Downer (pun intended) but a quick look leaves me wondering what’s the point. All that overlapping fabric probably weighs in close to a half or maybe full zip. IMO just add the zip and not worry about bellowing hot air out your bag while you sleep.  I would rather carry my EE quilt or similar with a fleece beany. A little more versatile. I like a full bag when the temps drop considerably but I’m sold on quilts now for everything else.

I do applaud them for innovating and its probably right for some but a lot of gear coming out lately seems a little gimmicky at best and not well thought out at worst.  Just my 2 cents, worth less than a penny in todays dollars :)

23 oz isn’t horrible, but a similarly-rated EE Rev is going to weigh about 8-10 oz less, depending upon size, fill, etc

Guessing the dimensions have it near EEs xlong wide/xwide sizing for an Enigma with ~10oz of 850FP goose down. Then you have the hood and slightly heavier fabrics for the Squirrel. Given the awesome “use it, abuse it, let the grandkids return it when I’m dead for a full refund” warranty it might be worth a go for the typical weekend warrior.

Definitely something to consider for that purpose. There are many adults I don’t trust around 10D fabric. ;^)
