Nothing to do with body building. It was just a link to a site that explained the point.

My apologies Franco; that’s good information! I got lost in your earlier link and couldn’t muscle my way through to find it.
Since it doesn’t seem anyone else has said it, I guess I must.
Can’t believe you’re all having a pissing contest about all this….
the good news is that according to Franco’s chart a healthy pee should be the color of an IPA or maybe a wheat beer. I’ll have to work on that.
but not a nice scotch. sigh….
I’ll tell ya though, I could have used more water during my hike last weekend. I went hiking in M.C. Escher National Park, and man, I didn’t think those hills were ever going to end! Just one false summit after another!
Glad to hear there’s no purple urine.
Yeah well Prince even peed better than the rest of us…
Ahhhhhhh !!!
I was going to post the
Purple wee
Purple wee..
bit
but now the moment has gone.
Once I walked about 8 miles, several hours, downhill, raining – so I just slogged along without stopping because it was raining.
Then my legs got very heavy. Could barely move. Drank some water and ate. After 30 minutes I was pretty much back to normal. I don’t know if it was hydration or blood sugar. Regardless, I’m a little better now at eating and drinking every hour or two regardless. Don’t need to eat and drink constantly though.
Once I did several days at 80 F or so during the day. Regardless of how much I drank I could not keep my urine clear over the day. But I drank up in the evening and my urine got clear eventually. . Water supplies weren’t real plentiful so I carried 1.5 liters.
I think you have to really work at it to get hyponatremia. Drink enough to make your urine clear, then drink a few more liters. This is only a problem if you really go crazy drinking lots of water.
I can tell the color approximately just looking at the stream. Doesn’t have to be very exact.
Last night I watched on youtube the film about David Cracknell running the Marathon des Sables. They measured he was losing 3.5L of sweat per hour! Under those conditions, you gotta camel up.

30 minutes would most likely be blood sugar. Rehydration is normally significantly faster imhe.
Cheers
