More dry conditions in the Sierra. Here’s link to our blog post that has the NOAA drought map:

Oct 31, 2022 at 2:28 pm #3763284Well, it’s far too early to predict with any certainty how the winter will unfold. Sure, we’d rather it was an El Nino year. Still, we’ll have to wait and see.

Jun 15, 2023 at 11:49 am #3783407Yeah they really blew that forecast, didn’t they!!??
Jun 15, 2023 at 3:45 pm #3783419Pretty funny… it’s dated Oct 20, 2022… 11 days later it started snowing and didn’t stop until April….
I have lived in the Sierra for over 30 years… and mama always said:
“Weather forecasting in the mountains is like a box of chocolates… you never quite know what you are going to get…”
Jun 15, 2023 at 4:19 pm #3783420I kind of chuckled when this thread was posted for the same reasons.

Weather people don’t even know what is going to happen in the current ensuing week most especially in mountainous regions but that goes for everywhere else too. The trouble is we really want to believe them and we know we shouldn’t. Alternate plans and going prepared are the best answers.
