More dry conditions in the Sierra.  Here’s  link to our blog post that has the NOAA drought map:

Thanks for the heads up! This is disappointing, but glad to have advance notice

Well, it’s far too early to predict with any certainty how the winter will unfold. Sure, we’d rather it was an El Nino year. Still, we’ll have to wait and see.

Interesting to see how this turned out to be quite the opposite! Long term weather forecasts are becoming more and more unreliable for me.

Pretty funny… it’s dated Oct 20, 2022… 11 days later it started snowing and didn’t stop until April….

I have lived in the Sierra for over 30 years… and mama always said:

“Weather forecasting in the mountains is like a box of chocolates… you never quite know what you are going to get…”

I kind of chuckled when this thread was posted for the same reasons.

Weather people don’t even know what is going to happen in the current ensuing week most especially in mountainous regions but that goes for everywhere else too. The trouble is we really want to believe them and we know we shouldn’t. Alternate plans and going prepared are the best answers.
