Could I improve a silnylon flat tarp?

I have an 8×10 silnylon flat tarp. It’s not that light because it’s so large. When dew falls, it soaks up the dew and then it’s a large, very wet piece of fabric that takes a long time to dry. It has cotton ties along the center and around the edges/corners and no metal grommets. Do you think there is some way to improve this tarp?

I have a Campmor one like that. I just use it car camping. Too heavy for me to consider it for backpacking. Doubt you could cut enough weight swapping the tie outs. How much work are you willing to put in on it and why?

I’m not sure what I’m willing to do with it. But my thoughts are that it’s sort of too big for one person, so maybe it should be smaller.

have you tried re-proofing the fabric ?

Something like this should do it :

note : there are only 2 or 3 oz of silicone in there. The rest is the propellant.

Over the years my UL sil tarp succumbed to “packed abraision” and leaked profusely.

Give yours a backyard hose test to confirm it’s worth salvaging.
