Nope. Not seen in at all. Also not in SPAM. Actually, I’ve not seen any surveys ever in my mailbox from BPL. Is there some setting somewhere that I might have turned off years ago?

Ah. Just tried that, and it tells me my email address is not valid. Oddly it doesn’t give me any chance to enter one. My account email address is definitely valid.

I notice in my account settings:

Manage My Email Newsletters (pending feature: disabled)

Wow– got the email less than two days ago and, when attempting to do the survey today, it says responses are no longer being taken.

I guess one must move fast on these surveys– lesson learned!

Jim, Yeah, as I remember it was directed as a pre-survey to help design a more effective survey. As is often the case, the initial surveys of many people, including the few I have put out there, often miss the mark. They never answer or show exactly what the survey taker wants. So, a limited pre-survey is often used. These are short, limited in time duration and often fairly broad in scope. As was this one. There were only four questions as I remember. The scope was very broad, so unless someone really concentrated on a single thing, several thoughts were able to be expressed.

Same here: 2 days and not available. Typical of the new web site.

The site continues to be slow and the graphic layout is terrible. I would rate it as just barely usable. If I were new to BPL, I would probably go elsewhere.

What do you like about the forums :

• memories of when it had an active community of backpackers.
• Chaff

What don’t you like about the forums :

• Gear swap contributes nothing to the discussions, but occupies most of the recent threads.
• Ads are everywhere.
• BPL reviewers are now sponsored mouthpieces for companies with pay back links to online retailers.
• Instead of choosing a forum software, we have *this* WordPress site pretending to be a forum at 1/40th the speed of real forums.
