Hey all

I just want to confirm that the gas canisters used for Jetboils, Pocket rockets, etc. are widely available in England and Scotland. I assume so since I often see them on YT but want to make sure! This is for the Pennine Way.

Thanks y’all!

I have not had any difficulties finding isobutane in the UK.  In my experience, 110  g canisters were not easy to find while the 16 oz ones seem to be more common than the 8 oz ones.  That’s what I recall.

The website for Cotswold Outdoor shows several brands of gas canisters, suggesting that they should be widely available in the UK.

Yes. They are the standard canisters used here for hiking stoves. Most hiking stores do 100g and 230g canisters. As do hardware stores. Often grocery stores on busier trails have canisters too.

If not MSR, JB or Coleman Extreme brand, the more generic brands often just contain butane/propane 70/30 mixes. Which is fine for non winter use.

The Pennine Way is a lovely walk.

Agree totally. But watch out for the meres on the high moors. They can be covered in grass, which looks nice and flat and not at all wet.
I fell in one – well, walked into it really.

Cheers
