I’ll wait till they drop the price  <grin>.

I’ve got one, and maybe it was operator error, but it vented a lot of propane.  Definitely use it outside and while wearing gloves.

There’s also the issue, if the receiving canister isn’t empty of isobutane or butane-propane mix, that the n-butane in the donor canister won’t have enough pressure to do the transfer.  That shouldn’t be a issue after repeated refills, but initially, you may need to freeze the receiving canister and warm up the donor.

Venting during connection: I found it essential to have the right O-rings in place, and to make the connection quickly and firmly. Press hard.

you may need to freeze the receiving canister and warm up the donor.
I do that, especially the freezing bit. It works fine.
Stove development work is much cheaper when I use those cheap butane canisters as a source rather than the very $$ propane/butane canisters. There is little difference in performance when testing at 20 C.

Cheers

I noticed you were using cheap butane in your stove article

I’m still using my canister labeled “Aug 2020”.  I’ve probably refilled it 15 times.  A bit scratched on the outside but otherwise still fine.

Alas, I moved away from the small Korean grocer that sells cheap butane for $1.50 per 8 ounces.  I now have to buy 12 cartridges for $2 each at amazon or at the big Asian market (H Mart).

Either heating the donor in hot water (110 F) or putting the donee in the freezer or ice water or both will work.

I see the same adaptor at amazon for $7 https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Filling-Canister-Backpacking-Camping/dp/B08CBGXQQK/ref=sr_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=butane+refill+adapter&qid=1634828009&sr=8-15

I wonder why they would charge you only $0.01.  Maybe they’re trying to build up number of sales which will then qualify them for something else.

hmmm… that product is listed as “top seller”, maybe that’s why it’s so cheap.  I’m tempted to order several.

wait a second… they’ll probably charge $7 shipping and handling : )

For grins, I clicked on the purchase button.  They added $0.20 VAT for a total of $.021 then PayPal would not let me process it as the transaction was under $1.  Too funny.

Either heating the donor in hot water (110 F) or putting the donee in the freezer or ice water or both will work.
Receiver in the freezer for 1/2 hr, then connect the two, and ‘help it a long a bit’ with a delicately-applied heat gun on the source can.

Cheers

@Jerry: What do you mean you thought about ordering some! I tried to give you one for free and you declined! :-)
