Blade 2 Titanium Backpacking Stove ??

I had one, worked fine.  For my style of cooking, it was hard to make it simmer on low for things like dry baking. Other than that it was a great stove.

I had it and returned it.
There were several things I didn’t like about the Firemaple.

1. The blades were fairly loose and felt flimsy.

2. The rigidity of the gas line didn’t allow the stove to pack down neatly (to take up less space).

3. The swivel action, if you will, made it difficult to turn the canister around (to invert).

The only positive about it was the weight.  I got the GSI Pinnacle 4 Season Stove instead. A tad bit heavier, but a much better stove all around and addressed all the shortcomings of the Blade ii.

If a FireMaple stove has floppy arms, try tightening the rivets. My Hornet had this problem, so I dismantled it and peined down the rivets. Much more sturdy.

But eventually, gave up on the Hornet, because of the difficulty of attaching a home-made windshield. I got a Hornet II, a greatly improved design. The slots in the pot arms give many options for attaching a windshield. I’m working on a prototype …

I am disappointed in Fire Maple. Many nice stoves, but their marketing claims are – well- shall we just say ‘not good’?

Gas flow inside preheat tube is heated by the flame, rapidly increasing pressure of the gas flow.
Totally false. That defies the laws of physics. It can not increase the pressure at all. I dare say it sounds good to the Marketing Dept.

Inverting the canister increases the mixture of gas & liquid flow to the preheat tube.
Also wrong. All it does is change the flow off fuel from entirely gas to liquid. Also, vaporising the fuel does not make for a stronger flame.

Sad. The hose is a boat anchor imho, but the burner head is nice.

A Soto Windmaster with the 3-Flex atop a Camping Moon Z23-OD Stand Adaptor. 244 grams/8.6 ounces. Swap the 3-Flex for the 4-Flex, add a big 2 liter pot and this set-up would be very stable for group use.

There is a very similar GSI stove that some say has better build quality.

I bought the Fire Maple BLADE 2 for my teenage grandsons. It will get only occasional use and they needed a stable stove so canister top was out. So far so good with the BLADE 2.
