A synthetic bag will weigh maybe 1/3 as much but be twice as warm as fleece.  Down even more so.

Doesn’t make sense except when it’s really warm and if you like the feel of it

It makes more sense for a shirt if it’s really cold, because when you’re exercising you don’t want hardly any insulation because it’ll make you sweat.

You don’t need to quilt synthetic, but you do need to “capture it” around the perimeter or it will move inward and there will be places with no insulation

Fair enough Ivo. I have used mine at home and on a red eye to Europe.

i own 2 costco quilts … and have given away 4 others or so to family and friends

its my main blanket at home, i keep one in the car … ive used em for well over a hundred nights …

i have no problem with sweating in em …

the thing to remember is that its a 20$ quilt … so it wont be as refined as some cottage or big manufacturer quilt/bag 10x the price …

you cant even DIY the costco quilt for the 20$ …

With expected lows of 60, have you tried just sleeping in clothes + bivy?   I’ve kept my winter heat at that temp, and slept with a cotton sheet if i’m wearing clothes, or a thin blanket + sheet if i was nekked.  Anything more in either situation and i would over heat.

I know for self at least, i could get by with a silk liner or top cover, bivy, and clothes no problem at that temp.  Caveat, i do sleep warm.  (the same guy that experimented with putting a small layer of 2.2 oz/yd2 Apex in between two silk liners and slept out in late winter, with lows in the mid 30’s–wasn’t ideally comfortable, but was doable, type 2 sleep–it was mostly the wind that got to me as i was in an AT shelter and it was windy that night.  If i had had a wind resistant bivy, i would have been cozy).

p.s., just to be on the safe side, i would try it in your backyard in similar conditions first.
