Thanks Shawn ! Â VERY Hot Tip !
Per Dondo, testers saying the R value is off, the Zoom sounds like a R3. I have an Exped R3 used to 28-29, was never cold. Interesting that the Youtube dude rigged up a visual comparison that showed why the Zoom was colder. But in the end, comfort will win for most 3 season backpackers.
Sounds like zoom ul with a thinlite under it would be good for 3+ seasons.
“BATEAM” worked for me, but Big Agnes did send out an email asking where I found that code. I ignored it before heading into Buckskin/Paria over the weekend and came out to find that they did ship the pad the same day I placed the order. Maybe they were just curious? I’m assuming it’s a code meant strictly for their ambassadors.
Got the Zoom and tested side by side at home with 2021 Xlite and Big Agnes QCore SLX. Uber comfortable. Packs down very small. Not noisy, (but noisier than the SLX). On the comfort side of things, Zoom may be more comfortable than the SLX – the most cozy pad I’ve ever used. It’s warmer than the SLX and the R3.2 Xlite as well. Next step is to test it on the trail. I so much want this Zoom to be the holy grail because of how mega comfortable it is!
Xlite is 4.2. how did you figure it’s warmer than xlite? Devin mentioned that this pad is definitely on the folder side and he doesn’t believe r4.2 is accurate for it and he wouldn’t take it under freezing temps.
Per my post, I have a 2021 Xlite which is rated R3.2. The new xlite NXT is R4.2.
No, old is 4.2, nxt is 4.5.
And did you actually test zoom ul to be warmer or you just assuming from R values?
