    Locale: North Woods. Far North.

Looks like Happy Isles at 2:15:00 pm PDT September 14th.

Which is 76 hours, 24 minutes.

    And totally amazing.

Wow indeed, that would put his total time from the portal to happy isles at

    3 days, 4 hours, 20 minutes and 30 seconds

Wow, again!!!    Aurelien also beat the supported FKT by over 3 hours.

Edit: Yup, that factoid above is wrong. I looked only at the first Google summary result to get the outdated supported fkt.  Thanks for the correction below guys.

Kevin, you are right that he beat Leor’s time, but that is no longer the supported FKT. Francois D’haene did an incredible supported time of 2d19h26m last October.

See link below for the “official” FKT times:

PS I think most of his advantage was from not sleeping much, rather than going a lot faster when moving. I could be wrong but that’s my hunch.

Amazing job!!! Doing that on so little sleep is incredible. I can’t imagine what he feels like, knowing what Andrew looked like when he finished his (old) FKT.

Per Aurelien’s Facebook page, his actual time was 75h 55m 10s

I think the last Spot message may have just been a tracking point that was collected well after he collapsed at the trailhead.

Congrats Aurelien! Amazing effort! Look forward to hearing the details!

    I added Aurelien’s report:  https://fastestknowntime.com/route/john-muir-trail-ca

Also, Nils Wydler started an unsupported trip today.  He says he’s “just” going for 4 days, but you never know.  He was on Whitney summit right at 5 hours.

Aurelien’s successful trip report can be found on Facebook here. For some reason there are 2 translations – scroll down to the second, which is better.

Aurelien, all I can say is Wow! I thought you were crazy trying again so soon after your previous attempt, but your mental and physical stamina are mind-boggling. Sir Donohue, be quashed! FKT, you are mine!!
