My husband and I are planning our first backpacking trip together.  He has lots of experience with backpacking and campaigning My when he was younger (Eagle Scout).  I have been car camping and day hiking but never backpacking.  The biggest hurdle seems to be trying to figure out how to deal with his CPAP.  A couple things about it:

1) Insurance will pay for a new Resmed 9 in a couple weeks.   There are batteries for it, but the whole deal is pretty heavy. (The transcend mini is prohibitively expensive and insurance won’t cover it.)

2) Going without it is not an option. (He’ll cancel a trip before he goes without the CPAP.)

So is there a brand we haven’t thought of?  Is there a battery setup someone has tried and likes?  Surely there must be some other CPAPers in this group.  Any suggestions at all?

I own the Transcend and I think it is the lightest one on the market.  They have batteries for it as well.

If you check out Amazon or CPAP.com you will see some prices much cheaper than the costs charged to insurance companies. If you need the humidifier, the battery consumption goes way up.  Transcend sells solar panels too but I think you could do better with a third party solarpanel

How many nights do you plan this trip to be? I find I can do OK for a short trip without my machine.

CPAPcharge.com had a reasonably priced battery for my ResMed machine.
