I am requesting that BPL add a catagory to Gear Swap: Pay it Forward (PIF). Generically free items (person claining the item pays for postage) with the stipulation that they in return offer something in back to the comminuty in the spirit of PIF. This could be an item or a trip report or a product review. The PIF forward catagory would make items easier to find and de-clutter items that are for sale. My 2 cents.
Great idea, John. That update has now been installed. It won’t update previous listings that are PIF, but it will offer it as an option on new listings moving forward. Thanks for the suggestion!
Updated in the Gear Swap Guidelines at the top of the Gear Swap Forum:
Pay it Forward (PIF) listings: To accept a pay-it-forward (PIF) listing, you agree to either (1) post a new PIF Gear Swap listing, (2) post a new Member Gear Review, or (3) post a new Member Trip Report.

There are probably plenty of members that have gear that they have outgrown, updated or just don’t use. While we probably put them in our junk pile, there are plenty of people that would consider them valuable. Hopefully a dedicated PIF category will unleash a bit of horded, unused gear to the joy of the recipients. My 2 cents.
