I have a need for making some accurate GPS points. Not survey type centimeter accuracy, but the 3 meter attainable with GPS is adequate. I can get that most of the time with an open sky and low horizons. My experience with adding Glonass to the GPS is minimal, if any, increase in accuracy with higher battery consumption. This is at middle latitudes, not far north where Glonass is supposed to be better. I have heard that adding the extra satellites of Glonass helps with canyons and under canopies. Is that true? If so, is the improvement substantial.
Thanks.
