For all my tents I mostly use about 2/3 of a normal footprint size to handle entrance traffic and the center area where most wear occurs. So when sleeping there is no footprint beyond my head and below my knees.

This has seemed to handle the main pressure areas of he tent floor well and I’ve never had wear or punctures when using these “shorty” footprints..

The 2/3d footprint is a good idea for Tyvek, but not sure it’s all that great for polycro.  The weight savings isn’t worth the potential oops factor with scissors.

Ken, I go shoeless a lot too – but only inside my tent – or the pool – or my house. Unlike a certain Louisiana governor of yore I don’t need boots in bed for “gription”.
