Got a standard meaningless reply to my ticket that I submitted on the 2nd of December. 7+ weeks later.
Here it is.
"Hi Ken,
We're trying to figure the ad thing out, especially on mobile.
As we migrate to a new platform, many of these issues should be resolved.
Ryan"
Did not answer a single question I asked of course. Signed by Ryan, doubtful.
What new platform?
Jan 24, 2015 at 3:41 am #2167548Maybe a regular forum platform with features most non BPL users take for granted?
Jan 24, 2015 at 7:05 am #2167570They (BPL) have this fear of loosing all existing posts and information. We seem to go through this ever couple of years.
Jan 24, 2015 at 9:11 am #2167595Ken, you don't remember the big planned move to the amazing New Platform? Pretty sure Ryan mentioned he was just about to initiate the move…
Wait, maybe that was six years ago. And four years ago. And three years ago.
Confused.
Jan 24, 2015 at 10:04 am #2167609My tickets were closed and marked as resolved with these responses:
This is in response to the NSFW ads with the girl in the Captain America Halter top:
"Hi cfrey.0,
Tacky ad, but the website it goes to isn't inappropriate, nor is it promoting anything too shady. If they keep it up and you continue to see this, let me know.
Ryan"This is in response to the Sugar Mommy ads, where in my support ticket I state directly I cannot provide a link because I don't want to click on the ad:
"Hi cfrey.0,
Can you send me URLs for these sugar mommy ads?
We have blocked the entire category but advertisers can temporarily game the system by sliding into other categories before they get caught.
We need URLs specifically so we can block specific websites.
Thanks!
Ryan"Jan 26, 2015 at 6:59 am #2168126My ticket is still open. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Jan 26, 2015 at 7:05 am #2168128"I cannot provide a link because I don't want to click on the ad"
If you right-click on an ad, there's usually a pop-up button called "copy link address" or "copy hyperlink", which you can use to copy-paste the ad's hyperlink into your support ticket (without actually visiting the ad's site). At least it works in Windows – not sure about Linux or Mac
Jan 26, 2015 at 8:49 am #2168161Peabut butter cookies:
I take something like this backpacking sometimes.
From “King Arthur Whole Grain Baking”
1 cup (9.5 oz) smooth peanut butter
1 cup (7 oz) brown sugar
1 large egg
1/4 cup (2 oz) water
2 T (1.5 oz) honey
1 t vanilla
1 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1 1/2 cups (6 oz) whole wheat flour
1/2 cup (2.5 oz) peanuts finely groundPreheat oven to 350 F
Lightly grease 2 cookie sheets
Cream everything but flour and nuts. Add flour and beat. Add nuts and beat.
Spoon the cookies on the two sheets. 12 cookies per sheet, or as many as 20. Smash with fork. Have a cup of cold water and dip fork in water occasionally to keep it from sticking.
Bake for 12 minutes.
What you really want to do is try 12 minutes. Just do one cookie. Let it cool. Eat it. If it's too soft increase the time a minute or two. If it's too hard decrease. Repeat until you're happy. Once you get the time for your preference and oven, you can just do the 12 or 20 cookies at a time.
I made these for some family thing, and my nephew said they obviously weren't his mom's (my sister's) because they weren't hard as rocks.

Cream everything but flour and nuts. Add flour and beat. Add nuts and beat."
Way ahead of you.
Jan 26, 2015 at 10:18 am #2168199take your mind out of gutter…
Jan 26, 2015 at 10:38 am #2168205Whoa! We had snickerdoodles last night! I take the craft of baking seriously and follow a similar technique.
What the heck are YOU talking about?
OH I GET IT NOW!!!!!
JERRY YOU NASTY!!!!!!!
Feb 6, 2015 at 7:08 am #2171886Another month passes without a word.
Feb 17, 2015 at 11:07 am #2175038Well the silence on this issue has been deafening. I'll chalk that up to a lack of leadership, vision, and care.
I changed my settings the other day to see what the ads looked like. Everything I saw had something to do with backpacking and the outdoors. No sugar mommas. No fitness singles. No Russian ladies.
So is it safe to assume that the google ads issue has been fixed?
Feb 17, 2015 at 11:31 am #2175047Ads are sorted, it's just some folks cabin fever that needs banishing.

Ooh burn!

Feb 17, 2015 at 5:52 pm #2175178Yeah for appropriate ads.
Boo for ads at all.
Yeah for AdBlock!
Feb 18, 2015 at 1:45 pm #2175476Like spam, I imagine that will be a never ending battle as long as there area ads.
One of the ads served me today:
Feb 18, 2015 at 2:01 pm #2175484I just keep getting ads for thick knitted sweaters….
Feb 18, 2015 at 3:17 pm #2175524> I imagine that will be a never ending battle as long as there are ads.
Pretty pathetic and desperate attempts to attract my attention. So obviously desperate they are doomed to fail.
I have blacklisted all those ad companies anyhow, so I never see them.Cheers
Feb 18, 2015 at 3:40 pm #2175529Roger, are you telling me that you DON'T want to meet hot and single hiker women in your area?

Probably.
I go walking with my wife – she is often in the lead. been that way for nearly 50 years. I am often working hard to keep up with her. That's enough exercise for the day.Besides, I know who cooks my dinners and washes my clothes. :-)
Cheers

Feb 18, 2015 at 10:51 pm #2175628Gee, I'm going to miss little Min-Woo.
Feb 19, 2015 at 5:58 am #2175647"Besides, I know who cooks my dinners"
From what I've seen, that would be you on backpacking trips!
