Didn't know if this should go in gear or general lightweight but I figured I would post it anyways.

Time to stock up on the 32oz Gatorade bottles! I work at a C-store and we are now getting the "replacement" 28oz bottles in sold at the same price. I do like the new shape of them (closer to a powerade bottle) and they may in fact be more useful for many here but if you have a system based off of the 32 oz bottles, time to jump in the car and stock up.

Anyways, figured I would give some warning for those who do "rely" on these bottles as part of their system. Btw, the cap looks to be the same size and threading, so that shouldn't mess anything up.

Kate,

First of all, happy New Year to you.

As to the 28oz bottles replacing the 32oz where you work,I dont doubt that.
The problem is,I have been hearing about the 28oz bottles for nearly 2 years now and my local Walmart and other grocers still have had the 32 ouncers all this time.

It could be that Gatorade is actually phasing in the smaller bottles for an across the board replacement.
It could also be a case of smaller value package "builds" that mgfs do all the time for smaller volume retailers like C stores, dollar stores etc so they can meet specific price points and keep their margins intact.

When the 28oz show up on the shelves at my local Walmart here, then I'll believe its an across the board thing..They move a lot of Gatorade here.

But thanks for the update as to whats happining at your store..

Its interesting.

C-stores get 28oz bottles. Grocery stores get 32oz bottles. If you buy from a c-store, you're probably getting ripped off anyways.

They may be shooting for a common bottle diameter across brands .

C stores tend to sell beverages chilled in refrigerators which tend to have single row racks.
Grocery stores sell mostly room temp product stacked on open shelves..

Could be that Gatorade downsized the Cstore packaging to coexist with other brands in displays..

Or, as Jeff believes, the greedy P@&$#s are just trying to rip us all off..lol.

There is only one song that could possibly fit the mood for this development…

Ok, did a little more research, and it does look like the 32oz bottles will be around for a bit. I wasn't aware that the 28oz bottle was out several years ago. Still, it is a rip off (well all soft drinks are really.. )

Still, funny to think that a thread about the potential for a bottle (not the contents) might go extinct got ay replies… Only on BPL :)

Added note: I bought a voss bottle once. I bought the bottle. Not a bottle of voss water. It just came with free Scandinavian water, as a bonus. I just wish the voss bottles had a more standard thread and cap, they really are the perfect form factor otherwise.

Yes, bpl, the forum where we talk about used plastic bottles, and grown men talk about the best sewing methods, :D

"Btw, Kate, it's called a Thread Injector Machine around these parts, we don't "sew", we "thread inject" geesh :P"

No, wrong. That's Hammock Forums.

It's a power tool.

No shame on men sewing. They're called tailors sewers, seamsters, sewists, and upholsterers.

No shortage of either size bottles here in farnorcal.

Ex post facto resurrection? I'm sure you could construct a theological argument for that pretty easily.
