MSR Windboiler – Wind Testing

Eric,

Really, the Windboiler isn’t all that tippy. Take a look at this photo.

That’s my five year old, pouring noodles into a Windboiler filled with water that was boiling a few seconds prior and is still very near the boiling point. I wasn’t that worried about her helping me cook, because it’s pretty stable.

Take a look at this photo. This is a Windboiler burner on a 225g canister. The canister is fairly wide compared to the burner. MSR’s instructions say that a canister stand should be used on smaller canisters but don’t suggest it for this size of canister.

Even with a small canister, I found that it was pretty stable when using the cansiter stand. Here’s a Windboiler at a downright silly angle with 500 ml of water inside. It didn’t tip.
