Hopefully they named this sleeping bag the Neutron Star. As hard as they packed the down into this bag, a Neutron Star is the only thing that will come close to it in terms of density.

"by the way – did anyone ever get in touch with Feathered Friends to see what their reaction was to this order?? I would have loved to hear THAT conversation….."

Yes, Justin Baker did. Their response to being shown the Ebay listing was "There's something you don't see everyday! One of the virtues of having Seattle-based manufacturing is we can make custom requested products, which can run the gamut from minor adjustments to, well, something as extreme as that. Clearly not for technical use!"

This was the response I received :
"At the core of the Feathered Friends brand, we are a premium down manufacturing business.
As a manufacturer with over 40 years of expertise in technical down production, we do not recommend using the amount of overfill seen in the custom bag being sold on eBay. That being said, local Seattle-based manufacturing allows us to cater to a wide spectrum of custom requests."

Cesar,

Sorry if I got your hopes up, but I'm not interested in this down bomb. Didn't mean to infer otherwise!

Harvesting the down did cross my mind, but not for me. No way, no how!

Pick up a Luxe pillow from Bloomingdale's if you want a bunch of down. Have it shipped to your MYOG'er and let them have the leftovers from your project. I have one sitting on the shelf for when I "need" something downy!

Ah well, it was a fun little thought experiment! And who knows, what if they seller gets desperate and wants to just get rid of the RMB for like a grand?

I'm pretty good as far as down gear goes, but that does not stop me from drooling over a few choice pieces of gear, of course.

I wonder if the seller has read any of the threads on here? And did anyone else notice that the, errmm, "interesting" plastic bottle photo remains?
