Is there a pair of boxers that work like Ex Officio stuff but don’t cost $26 each?

Ex Officio boxer replacement?

I haven't used the Ex Officio version but I find these to be excellent:
I've been really happy with the Terramar high performance boxers I've gotten from STP – look for a coupon and they are very affordable.
I've used these mesh versions as well as the pro jersey versions (currently sold out). Very good quality and comfortable.
They pop up regularly.
Can’t get the link/url to work and the Terrmar stuff for mesh is boxer briefs and I would like something with a bit more room. At least it is a starting point.
The thing that makes the ex officieo's different is that they are nylon and not polyester. I am not saying there aren't good replacements out there but I haven't seen any.
…
Nothing.
Nothing works just like Ex Officio boxers.
Buy 'em on sale…got mine for $17/pr. Worth every penny.
Sorry…I haven't found anything that works like Ex Officio. Good luck.
I like the fact that Ex Officio boxers use nylon instead of polyester. So, i bought a pair about a year ago to test it out.
I was very disappointed when i did a simple water wicking test with it. Dropped some water drops onto the fabric. In a good wicking synthetic material, the water will soon start to spread over a larger surface area. Not so on this material, it just sat on the surface.
In other words, in this pair at least, they did not alter the semi-hydrophobic fibers of nylon to increase capillary action, which is necessary to induce true "wicking".
I can temporarily make this happen, by soaking it in a borax water solution and letting it dry, but this only lasts for a little while and may adversely affect the antimicrobial treatment (though, it adds its own much more temporary kind).
These boxers would be better if they altered the fibers ala powerdry or similar mechanical fiber characteristics, to add wicking. This could be as easy as brushing the inside/skin facing side of the fabric.
Perhaps the latest versions use a more wicking material?
I bought a pair of REI nylon briefs which actually do wick. Though i prefer boxers, in underwear i find wicking more important overall.
The boxers. Love them. Edited to add: They don't cost $26. . . they cost more! Sorry. . . :)
In an ideal world, someone would make a boxer out of fabric that is a blend of 70 to 75% nylon and 25 to 30% linen or tencel, and a polygiene treatment. Fresh, fresh, fresh, cool, cool, cool, dry, dry, dry!
I would pay good money for such boxers.
Hmm.. sounds like a business opportunity.
Me nethers feel all fresh just reading that! ;)
I just picked some up for just under $20 dollars. Depending on size and colour, they could also be cheaper. Free shipping (in the U.S.) if you buy a couple of pairs.
I love my Ex-Officio, but I have also picked up several pair of Uniqlo AIRism boxers. They are around half the weight of EO (1.5 oz in my size vs 2.8 for my EO) and I can almost always find them on sale for around $10 a pair on their website…but they are polyester.
Here’s two for $32. Still pretty expensive, in my opinion.
David Archy Men's 4 Pack Micro Modal Separate Pouch Trunks (S,Coffee)
4 pack for $22.99 on Amazon.
I purchased these and now its all I wear, now my brother swears by them an my daughters boyfriend, they have a unique design.

Perhaps, but i would be happy just to find a fabric like this and make a few pairs for myself.
Unfortunately, despite searching high and low for a couple of years for such a fabric, i've yet to find anything even remotely close to those specifications. The closest thing i've seen was some women's underwear at Uniqlo that was made out of 60% nylon, 30% Cupro (a antimicrobial type of rayon), and 10% spandex. I got my spouse a pair, but while i'm pretty secure all in all and in the interest of saving money will occasionally wear some more gender neutral women's clothes, i'm NOT going there for a few reasons.

I was hoping it would have that effect…but please don't rely on placebo for too long…
Okay, so there is Ex Officio and then there is pretty much everything else which is polyester. Thanks :)
buck naked is 93% nylon 7% spandex
I think Ex Officio is 94/6. Good to know though although not much of a price differential. What I like about the black boxers is that I wear them like shorts inn the summer and they hide stuff pretty well.
Watch for the sales. I've seen them for as little as $16, and maybe no shipping/// I forget
Right now, quantity discount at $19 if you buy 7, and no shipping. Hmmm… but if you buy 7 you're "all in" eh?
But back to the criteria mentioned in your first post, they are like ex officio and they cost less than $26.
I double-dog dare ya to hike in those candy stripe ones, LOL!
After years of using the Ex Officio boxer briefs, I bought some Adidas climacool boxer briefs – $28 for two pair. They've easily become my favorite hiking briefs, and in my opinion outshine the Ex Officios in every way, FWIW.

To Doug: How good are the Adidas boxer briefs at odor prevention/minimizing? Do they have some kind of anti-odor treatment?
Odor resistant finish, whatever that means. They do as well as any other briefs I've worn.
i have had Very decent luck with cabelas boxers " Weatherproof Cool Last Boxer Briefs " @ 20 bucks a 3-pack.
i bought 4 packs.
best thing going right now for me, and no lame $26 /pair bs.
trail tested with no issues at all. also nice at work.
good luck,
v.
