Over this past weekend, I was backpacking in Yosemite. I camped at Young Lakes, which is just below 10,000 feet elevation. This little critter was living in a talus slope about 150 yards from my camp.

This is an American Pika. They are so small and elusive that I can find them only by listening for the "ek ek" predator alarm call. Since this little guy was so skittish, I had to keep my distance and shoot it with 1100mm focal length equivalent.
Everybody likes the long whiskers.
