Trekking pole handles

Before you rush off to buy another pair of poles, try this way of holding them.
I find it much easier on the wrist and generally I can swing them better this way. Cross country skiers use them like this.
Or you could try the Pacerpoles, ULA sell them ( when Brian is not hiking…)

You might want to check this out: Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles Review Summary. It lists grip size. The most UL poles are fixed length and those are all generally a medium size…unfortunately I don’t have any examples of large grips in these poles.

The PacerPole is definitely a large grip, but this requires a certain style of pole usage that is different from Trekking or Nordic Walking styles. They are also quite a bit heavier. (But great poles nonetheless- check out our review on these too.)

Of the poles I have the Komperdells have a solid medium grip that works with my large hands. The Bozeman Mountain Works poles have the largest handles due to the oversized shafts, but they are also wicked expensive.

Franco- Thanks for the suggestion but I find that the straps irritate my wrist so I cut them off my poles.

The Pacer Poles look interesting but I do a good deal of Nordic Walking on trail so I don't think they are an option.
