Backpacking Light Staff since 2003. Currently a Contributor, I was previously the Shelter Editor and Trekking Pole Editor.  I am a ultralight backpacker, mountaineer, canoeist, and bikepacker. These days I am focused on family backcountry adventures with my wife, Amy, and my children, Henry and Lily. Every summer we take a full month to travel, and this always includes a 10+ day backcountry trip. I also love SUL and UL trips and getting high above the trees in Washington’s Cascade Mountains.
