Joshua,

I am working on a different wick design now. I have a couple of ideas that I need to test. I'll post back here when I work out the bugs.

Tony,

I also got 6 gms of canister fuel to boil 500mls using my Coleman F1 stove. Apparently, the laws of physics apply in both hemispheres. :-)
I also wanted to let you know I have been following your stove designs and am looking forward to your next post on that subject.

Hi Mark, Joshua,

Thanks for your replies.

"I also got 6 gms of canister fuel to boil 500mls using my Coleman F1 stove. Apparently, the laws of physics apply in both hemispheres. :-)"

I have also found for the Pocket Rocket the optimum time vs efficiency for boiling 500 ml of water is about 6 minutes and you save very little fuel taking more time but used a lot more fuel taking less time (this 6minutes is the same time that my Trangia at full power takes to boil 500ml). Most of my other stoves have similar results.

The exception was with my JetBoil using 1.5l JB pot I heated 500 ml of water in 2m 30s and used only 4g fuel 22ºC-95ºC), all of the test with the JetBoil used between 4-5g of fuel for tests ranging from 2m 20s to 14 under similar test conditions. With the 1I Jet Boil pot I had similar results.

Tony
