David W. and I set out with a loose itinerary last Friday. His A/C was broke, and my truck has a bad head gasket. We decided just to let the truck overheat rather than us overheating on the drive up. It did, just once. We got in late on Friday, we'd hoped for an earlier start that day so it sort of changed our plan. Went out of Crabtree. Camped above Camp Lake the first night, went up to Long Lake, then back down to camp at Deer Lake the second night.
Saw a couple small patches of snow, a couple thousand mosquitos, and one marmot. Cherry Creek was barely moving and about ankle deep… so little snow this year.
We ate well!
Dinner 1: Spinach and Kale tortellini with pesto
Breakfast 1: Blueberry pancakes with strawberry jam, fresh bananas and raspberries, fresh eggs with lox.
Lunch 1: Tuna, jalapenos, hummus, flatbreads, chips, avocados… too much!
Dinner 2: Thai green curry made with dehydrated veggies and coconut milk accompanied by brown minute rice.
Breakfast 2: Bannock with cherries, fresh eggs, lox
We had bigger plans to go a little cross country, but we both wanted to get back early on sunday, which was also fathers day, so we just hiked out the 13 or whatever miles and got back to the truck by lunchtime. Had a great time and enjoyed David's company as usual. My photos will be in the next post since they over-run the page width :)
