It's a bit "gimmicky" for me, but it may work for you.

Basically, it's a BV500 (but with a couple of liters less capacity) and the gimmick is that you're supposed to use the metal lid of the canister as your cookpot.

The capacity vs. weight is roughly equivalent to the BV500, but if you don't mind a shallow wide cookpot, you'll save about 6-7 oz overall.

I actually prefer not to use any canister, likewise a frying pan. I was just wondering if anyone had experience. If the numbers match up the BV, then that is how I'll probably go if I have to vault up.

Thanks.

Looks like the weight of 2 lbs 4 oz does not include the pan/handle, so the real weight is 2 lbs 11 oz for 650 cu in with the pan. Add 2 oz. for the pan lid if you want that too. So it's slightly heavier and slightly smaller than a BV500 at 2lbs 9 oz and 700 cu in. Seems only worthwhile if you actually use the fry pan.

They are on the Yosemite list, see http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/containers.htm .
