Hi. I'll be spending 1.5 months backpacking in theWind River Range…..mainly on the west side near the Pinedale area. After a big hike and 1-1.5 weeks in the backcountry I like to clean-up. I am on a tight budget. All of the motels that I am looking at online seem very expensive compared to the usual places where I "clean-up". Honestly…..I just need a place to take a hot shower and a campground with shower facilities would work. Can someone suggest a cheap motel or are there any campgrounds with showers? I bathe in the backcountry……but I like to "properly" clean-up once in a while.
Jun 14, 2014 at 7:40 pm #2111589Try the hostel in Jackson Hole – http://www.thehostel.us Or motels between the Winds and Jackson.
Hostels are not as common in the US as in Europe or South America. Jackson Hole, the nearest airport to the Winds, is a very popular and expensive place. Motel 6 and the Hostel are about the only low-priced options I know of n that area.

Jun 14, 2014 at 7:50 pm #2111593Thanks for the idea……but driving 83 miles for a shower does not sound ideal. It may be the only option. The "Log Cabin" motel in Pinedale is 86 dollars. I'm thinking that there has to be a "campground/rv park" with showers in the area, but maybe not?
Jun 14, 2014 at 7:57 pm #2111596There are two places that I know of that offer showers for a fee. The first, The Pinedale Aquatic Center, I discovered from reading a trip report about one year ago; I have no first hand knowledge. I presume the daily admission fee of $5 covers the shower. See http://www.pinedaleaquatic.com/#!hours-fees/c1kr9. The other facility is an old campground that has seen better days. My last visit was two years ago at which time they charged $5 for a shower. There is almost never anyone on duty there. A self-serve box is near the front door. I am having a little trouble finding the name/address but I believe it is the Pinedale Campground on Jackson Ave. about one block south of the main highway.
I also would like to find an inexpensive place to stay in Pinedale. Last year I paid about $100 for a room at one of the fancier newer lodges at the west end of town. Two years ago I paid about $85 IIRC at the motel in Boulder, about 10 miles south of town.
Looking forward to others' responses.
Edit: minor error

2) This seems to be the pinedale campground with showers, but it seems to have poor reviews on the internet…….but I'm not worried. I'll just wear my sandals.

Pinedale, WY 82941Jun 19, 2014 at 9:07 pm #2112947The marina at the south end of fremont lake has $5 showers I've stayed at the cabins before but can't recall the rates, campgrounds are nearby. The restraunt at the marina has really good food.
