I just noticed this in another thread about light stove/pot combos. I was wondering if anyone had any experience using this bowl as a pot with an alcohol or esbit stove. What stove did you use, and what did you use as a windscreen? As a wider pot, this seems like it would be pretty efficient with the right stove/windscreen combo. It sure is light enough at 1.6-1.9 ounces (sources differ on the weight). I was all set to get the Lite Trail Toaks 550 when I saw this one with an even lighter weight and a much lighter price tag. Thanks for any input!

Used it for years. Many alcohol and canister stoves, open fires, wood stoves, it just works. Foil lid or nothing if I'm being lazy.

Throw in some foil and an Esbit wing stove and you are all set.
1.8oz. really. It's the titanium bargain.
sorry for the stupid question, but what does everyone use to pick up the pot? Pot lifter? gloves? hat?

or, any cheap pot lifter, among other things, will do as you mentioned
Well that is plain kewl Robert. How did you make it?
thanks Rick
the handle was made from a scrap piece of thin steel wire/rod bent into shape with two pairs of needle-nose pliers. It is inserted into two approx 1/16" holes drilled into the wall of the bowl about an inch apart just below the the rolled rim of the bowl.Despite the thin wire it's rigid enough to support a full bowl of water.
And, the same handle works equally well with a SP titanium lid/fry pan to make a 2oz fry pan ( once the two stock folding handles are removed ). The lid fits nicely over the bowl. Duct tape on the handle was added for thermal insulation.
Nice "bowl lifter"! I might have to make one of those from a welding rod, coat hanger, or something…
I use a Trek 700, but like eating from the bowl. I've used it for frying stuff in a fire, but never for regular cooking.
FYI, Four Dog stoves makes a lid that fits the ti bowl, too.
Saw it when I was shopping for stuff there awhile back. I think it is the same one that fits a Snow Peak 1400 pot.
I usually use a bandana, glove or beanie or water else is handy.
It can be done with a bare hand if you are careful and hold the rim (at least for boiling water).
I have been meaning to add a bale to make pouring easier (or to lessen the scalding potential).
